A tenet of the Scientific Revolution, with its emphasis on rationality
and scientific method ("inductive" method), could be to "doubt
everything." How did that spirit
influence the development of the Enlightenment?
Most importantly, what was the impact of that idea on the political and
social worlds of the 18th century and beyond?
Does modern society carry forward that skeptical idea? How so (or not)?
